Anyone who is planning a trip to New York City and plans to do some shopping would benefit from reading through this book. Organized by neighborhood, with helpful maps and suggestions for places to take a break from shopping, this book is perfect for the unintiated who wants to know which neighborhoods are good for what, from antiques to boutiques and everything in between. Sidebars include helpful tips (like which types of stores observe the Sabbath and which are closed Sunday) and there are sections dedicated to everything from diamonds to discount stores. The only shortfall of this book is that the listings are somewhat limited (though vast for a first timer) so if you're looking for secret places or lesser known shops, this is unlikely to satisfy.
